The Different Types of Petrol Water Pumps

When you are in the need of a water pump, you tend to realise that there are plenty of them with each having its own area of application, and of course, pros and cons. They can be used in a range of different situations such as fire-fighting, de-watering and trash transfer pumps. You must choose the type of petrol water pump that is best suited for your needs.

A few of the different types of petrol water pumps are discussed here.

Firefighting Pumps: The firefighting pumps are essentially water transfer pumps that extinguish spot fires by discharging water at high pressure. Since these pumps need to perform in emergency situations, it is essential that these are reliable and can operate well at high pressure. The main difference between regular water transfer pumps and fire-fighting pumps is that the latter need to operate at a higher pressure capacity. Fuel-based water pumps such as petrol water pumps are way more portable and efficient than electric water pumps.

De-watering Pumps: De-watering pumps, also known as water transfer pumps, can transfer large amounts of water from one location to the other. The applications are varied even though the most common uses of petrol water pumps in these cases is transferring water from a flooded building or constructions site. It can also be helpful in an overflow situation or for irrigation purposes. These pumps have a lower psi capacity as compared to the fire-fighting pumps even though they are capable of moving larger volumes of water than fire-fighting pumps.

Trash Pumps:
Trash pumps can transfer large volumes of semi-liquid mixtures and debris from a location. These pumps do not process the liquid they pick up they just transfer it from the specified location. There are three different types of trash pumps namely, dry-prime, wet-prime and positive displacement pumps. The hose attached to the pump contains a filter so that it picks up only the debris that will not get stuck in the hose or the pump and will not do any damage to the pump.

When you want to buy a petrol water pump, you need to keep the required flow, pressure, suction lift, size of the solids, etc. in mind. This will make sure that the water pump you buy is able to serve you well.
